Obverse: Corn ear divided. Text across CA to left, MV to right, the mint signature for Camulodunum (Colchester).

Reverse: Full-bodied horse galloping right, branch and pellet above, pellet under tail. Text in exergue CVN (O), an abbreviation of Cunobelin.

History: Cunobelin ruled over a substantial portion of south-eastern Britain. He took power around 9AD, minting coins from both Camulodunum (Colchester), capital of the Trinovantes and Verlamion (later the Roman town of Verulamium, now St Albans), capital of the Catuvellauni. His name means 'hound of Belenus'.
